A morning at Villa Giulietta: coffee, pool and sea
What a slow morning at the villa looks like: breakfast on the terrace, a swim in the heated pool, and where to buy fresh bread, fruit and coffee nearby.

We don't serve breakfast at Villa Giulietta. Guests look after themselves. That also means no breakfast room to be in by a certain time and nobody else at the pool. This is how a morning here tends to go, and what to buy the day before.
Coffee first
Living room, dining area and kitchen share one open space downstairs. The SMEG kitchen has an oven, a hob, a microwave, a dishwasher and a fridge. For the first half hour of the day, what matters more is the coffee machine, the kettle and the toaster. The glass dining table has eight chairs, so nobody has to eat standing up.

Floor-to-ceiling sliding windows open onto the terrace and the pool. On a cooler morning the living room is the place for a slow start, on the white sofa below the large wall painting.

Breakfast outside
On warm mornings, breakfast moves outside. Downstairs, a covered terrace with lounge sofas looks across the lawn to the pool, and the outdoor kitchen under the wooden pergola has its own dining table. From the garden you look out over the sea and the mountains along the coast.

Two large terraces sit to the left and right of the house, and each bedroom can be reached from one of them. The orange chairs at the top of this article stand on a terrace next to three palms, a good corner for the first coffee.
A swim before the day gets hot
The pool is private and heated, so you can use it all year, and it has a cover. Sun loungers, parasols, pool towels and beach towels come with the house. Beyond the pool the garden runs on for about 90 metres towards the sea, and at its end there is a yoga deck under a pergola.
Bread, fruit and coffee: where to shop
It pays to shop the afternoon before. The nearest places:
- Market Scopello, a grocery in Contrada Piano Vignazza, is the nearest shop we know of: about 3 km by road, five minutes by car.
- Scopello has a few small food shops. The village is known for pane cunzato, bread dressed with tomato, cheese, anchovies and olive oil; more in our article on food near Scopello.
- Castellammare del Golfo, about 20 minutes away, has bakeries, greengrocers and supermarkets such as Decò and Conad, and a weekly market on Saturday mornings from 8 am to 1 pm.
| Where | Distance | What you find |
|---|---|---|
| Market Scopello | about 3 km | Groceries |
| Scopello | about 5 minutes | Small food shops, cafés on the square |
| Castellammare del Golfo | about 20 minutes | Bakeries, greengrocers, supermarkets, Saturday market |

If you would rather have breakfast out, try it the Sicilian way in summer: a granita with a warm brioche. Scopello's square, about five minutes away by car, has cafés.
After breakfast
From the villa, the south entrance of the Zingaro nature reserve is about ten minutes by car, and Guidaloca, a sheltered pebble bay, is 3.7 km away. Our articles on the Zingaro and the beaches near Scopello cover both, and for a day that ends late there is our evening in Palermo.
More about the rooms and the garden is on our villa page. For dates and prices, see our rates or write to us through the contact page.
