October near Scopello is warm: the mean daytime high is 23.5 °C, the sea is still at 21 to 23 °C, and hiking is easier than in August. Depending on the variety, the olive harvest starts in October. The wine harvest in western Sicily began at the end of July 2026, while on Mount Etna it runs to the end of October.

Olives in October, grapes on Etna
The olive harvest starts around now, depending on the variety. A product sheet from Planeta gives 10 to 30 October for the Nocellara del Belice variety, while other sources name November to December. Ask locally when picking starts if you want to see it.
The grape harvest came earlier. In 2026 the first grapes were picked on 22 and 23 July at the cooperatives Cantine Ermes and Settesoli, between Agrigento and Trapani (Vinetur, 30 July 2026). Italpress described a campaign of about a hundred days that starts in the west with Grillo, Nero d'Avola and Perricone and ends on Etna with Nerello Mascalese and Carricante. On Etna, picking runs from mid-September to the end of October. For the area around Scopello and Alcamo no source reports a harvest in October. Anyone who wants to see grapes picked at that time heads for Etna, 280 km from the villa and so a trip of its own.
Weather in Scopello in October
The figures are our own calculation from the Open-Meteo archive, a model based on satellite and station data, averaged over the Octobers of 2016 to 2025. Stations near Trapani give slightly different values: a mean high of 24.3 °C, a low of 16 °C and about 61 mm of rain, against our 78 mm. Plan on 60 to 80 mm of rain.

Rain days rise from 9 in September to 10 in October and nearly 14 in November. October is still mostly dry, with a few wet days and 9.4 hours of sun a day on average; November is clearly wetter and cooler, with 8.2 hours.
Is the sea warm enough for swimming?
Yes, at 21 to 23 °C. The villa's pool is heated and, according to the owners, can be used all year round.
What is open in October
The Riserva dello Zingaro stated at the end of October 2026 that it was open every day from 8:00 to 16:00, while its 2026 map still showed 7:00 to 19:00. Check the hours on the reserve's site and set out in the morning. Entry is €5, by card, and all trails are open. The Tonnara di Scopello is closed.
Beach clubs, boat trips and restaurants set their own season, so ask them about their October hours before you plan a day around one.
