Monte Inici is the serious one. BikeClimbs rates the ascent from Strada Vaccheria in Borgo Borruso, Castellammare del Golfo, as category 1. It starts at 240 m and ends at 968 m, with short pitches of 16 to 26 per cent. Komoot lists a loop from Castellammare of 30.2 km with 1,060 m of climbing and asks for very good fitness. The summit itself is given as about 1,064 m.
Erice has no single standard ascent. Climbfinder gives 7.2 km at 8.3 per cent from Antica Erice, and from Trapani about 11 km at 6 per cent. Quäldich.de describes a south ascent from the SS187 and a west ascent from the cable car station; it calls the west one comfortable but warns of stray dogs at the first hairpin. The south ascent is hard to plan in route planners, and no-entry signs for buses and lorries stand at its start. The top lies at 707 to 746 m, depending on where a source ends the climb.

- Scopello, Segesta and Buseto Palizzolo: about 46 km, the same operator’s third day. Bikemap has a similar route from Castellammare via Segesta.

Inland it is very hot in summer, so ride early or late. Lonely Planet gives daily highs of up to 32 °C in June and 35 °C in August, and 16 °C in February and 19 °C in March. Rules for cyclists in Italy
| Topic | Rule |
|---|---|
| Passing distance | Drivers keep at least 1.5 m where the road allows; fine 167 to 665 euro |
| Reflective vest | Outside towns from 30 min after sunset to 30 min before sunrise, and always in tunnels |
| Lights | White at the front, red at the back; also in tunnels, fog and heavy rain |
| Helmet (adults) | Check the current rule before you travel |
Source: Everyeye (15 July 2026), Edotto and Studio Cataldi. The 1.5 m rule rests on law no. 177 of 25 November 2024, in force since 14 December 2024.
The wording “where the road allows” leaves room for closer passes, so do not count on the full distance. Across a solid line or on a road that is too narrow, the rule does not apply.
